wePowder Season Kick-off
This year marks the 9th edition of the wePowder Season Kick-off: the best start to your freeride season. Four days of freeriding and freetouring in the area with the best powder opportunities. Will you kick off the winter together with us?
Freeriding and freetouring the way it’s meant to be! Together with the experts from wePowder , we are monitoring the snow conditions in order to decide a week before the departure where to go, so that we hit the best conditions at that moment in the Alps. You arrange your overnight stay yourself, we provide a team of experienced, international guides and a good atmosphere.
4 days of guided freeriding
Under the guidance of one of the experienced Epique guides you will go freeriding or freetouring for four days. With a maximum of 10 groups of 7 freeriders, there is a group for every level.
“And again, a trip with Epique that was fantastic. Gijs-Jan as a guide knows how to make you enthusiastic, to motivate you and to find beautiful descents every time. Furthermore, we had a very nice and pleasant group. I made a tour for the very first time and we had beautiful weather, also not unimportant.“ Daniel
Why the Kick off?
- The best snow conditions of the moment
- A large freeride area
- guided freeriding
- Budget or luxury, book the accommodation of your preference
- Lift access freeride or freetour
Best chance of powder snow
In order to have the best chance of powder, we’re deciding which exact area we are going to a week before departure. We choose a good freeride area with sufficient lift capacity and enough off-piste and tour ski/splitboard options. For example, Les Trois Vallées, Arlberg, Tignes – Val d’Isere, Davos or Sestriere. When choosing the area, we also pay attention to the weather forecast, the snow cover and the current avalanche situation.
“Perfect conditions combined with an excellent organization and the good guide have made this trip unforgettable. It’s really nice to be in the powder all day with a group of like-minded people. Sale knew how to find the right places, let everyone have fun and “casually” also teach you something.” – Ed
Program – 4 days of freeriding
Day 1 – Arrival
We will gather in a restaurant around 19.00h for the opening and briefing. While enjoying a snack and a drink, you get to know the guide and the other skiers or snowboarders in your group. Together with your guide you make a plan for the next day.
Day 2 – First freeride day
In the morning, just before the lifts open, we meet at the valley station. After a material check we take the first elevator up. We start slowly so that everyone can get used to the snow and the material and then dive into the powder as quickly as possible. The guide is ready for you with tips and tricks to perfect your powder runs. If necessary, we will make time today for a short safety clinic.
Day 3 and 4 – Getting started
If the weather and conditions allow it, the guide will challenge you more. Looking for steep runs or a challenging tree run. The freeriders mainly make lift-access runs, with the occasional bootpack. The freetour groups go further into the backcountry and make a short tour daily. At the end of the afternoon we gather with all groups for après-ski.
Day 5 – The last descents
We take the first elevator up again and continue, with a short coffee break, until about 2 pm. After a joint lunch it’s time to say goodbye. Whether you drive straight home today, or the next morning, is up to you.
Freeriding and freetouring
Don’t like walking or do you just want to make as many runs as possible? The freeride groups will score lift-access descents and possibly make a short bootpack. Are you not averse to skinning uphill and do you want to be able to ski or board as much as possible untracked runs? With the freetour groups we go further into the backcountry, depending on the conditions.
Level of the trip
The Kick-off is for experienced and novice off-piste skiers and snowboarders who want to start the winter season right. You already have some off-piste experience and can descend in a controlled manner in deep snow. We have space for 10 groups. The groups are divided on the basis of our levels and your wishes. Of course we take into account groups of friends. Expect four days of intensive freeriding and enjoy time with a group of like-minded people.
