Heli Skiing in Nepal

Nepal - Snow

Everyone knows Nepal from the highest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas. Of the fifteen highest mountains in the world, eight are in Nepal. A ski or snowboard adventure in this region requires good preparation and the best guides. Epique partners with Himalayan Heliski Guides. The experienced guides and modern helicopters will take you safely through this unforgettable landscape. Epique ensures that you arrive perfectly prepared at the foot of the Himalayas.

This trip takes you to the western part of the Himalayas, where you spend the night in the city of Pokhara. The second largest city in Nepal has about as many inhabitants as Utrecht. Its spectacular views, wide choice of hotels, bars and activities make it a popular tourist destination of Nepal. When the weather is bad in the mountains, it is usually good to stay in Pokhara. As soon as you step out of the helicopter, swap your ski or snowboard boots for flip flops and explore the city or surrounding area.

We mainly ski or board in the southern part of the Annapurna region, here you make descents with a view of the Annapurna I (8091 m.) and Fishtail Peak (6993 m.). A crossing to the northern part is also possible. Here you can descend from the foot of Annapurna II, III and IV.

The region is known for its own microclimate and the storm that comes every afternoon. For this reason we start early and fly back to Pokhara around noon. The next morning you will be the first to be ready to take advantage of the fresh powder that has fallen. In this immense area there are endless long, wide descents to be found. Because the largest part is on the north, the snow is hardly influenced by the sun. The result is a lot of good powder snow.

The helicopter cannot reach the highest peaks. Yet we will be dropped off at heights that you cannot compare with any other area. However, acclimatization is not a problem. We build it up, start low and at the end of the week we look for the highest runs.

Next year again!

It was the third time in a row that we went with Michiel and Gijs-Jan in November. This time for the first time to the Stubai Glacier (before this to Hintertux). This time not only training on and off the slopes, but also a nice tour to the Pfaffenkogel. Thanks guys, it was beautiful again!
