Free tour weekend Heidelberger Hütte | Epique - Mountain Adventures

Heidelberger Hütte weekend

Austria

Looking for a short and challenging trip? The Silvretta Mountains are easy to drive and offer great freeride and tour terrain. During this four-day trip we will go lift-access freeriding and ski touring or splitboarding from an authentic mountain hut. Suitable for novice and experienced ski tourers and splitboarders. We teach you the correct running technique and look for challenging ascents and descents for every level.

Skiing and boarding from a mountain hut

The Heidelberger Hütte is located just outside the ski area of Ischgl, yet in the middle of the backcountry. Be the first at the most beautiful freeride runs of Ischgl, or set fresh tracks towards a beautiful top. The cabin is equipped with all comforts; a good bed in a dormitory, hot water, an extensive breakfast and a good three-course dinner. And of course the cozy atmosphere that belongs to a mountain hut. The cabin is located 2264 meters high and is therefore the perfect place to find untracked descents.

“Despite the late time of the year and the fact that there was virtually no snow on the valley slopes, Gijs-Jan managed to find very good snow during the freeride and certainly during the ski touring. Very good information provision in advance and genuine hospitality during the trip mean that I have already signed up for a tour for 2020.” – Elout

Freeride and tour combination

The first two days we make as many off-piste runs as possible in and around the ski area of Ischgl. To score the best powder, or firn, we may make a short ascent from the mountain station. The last two days we go ski touring or split boarding from the hut. We have a choice of 6 peaks. Rewarded with a great view over the Silvretta Mountains. Followed by a long descent into the powder or wonderful spring snow.

Amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Going snowboarding in the late season in the Ischgl area – what an experience! Gijs-Jan knew exactly where to go off-piste to grab the last bit of powder. Sleeping in the Heidelberger Hutte and splitboarding in the area was a unique experience!
