Free Tour Georgia
Georgia is one of the best kept ski secrets in Europe. Georgia is a land of adventure, an ancient culture, a few challenges, great food and hospitality, but above all it has high mountains and lots of snow. Georgia guarantees a unique and unforgettable freeride adventure.
Skiing & Snowboarding Georgia
Winter sports here is growing strongly. All-new ski areas and ever-improving lifts create new opportunities for freeriders to explore this amazing country. But ski areas are only part of the Georgia ski experience. The tour ski and splitboard possibilities in the historic province of Svantie are almost endless.
“Extraordinary country with a perfect combination of snow, skiing and culture.”
Freeriding and ski touring or splitboarding
In the northwest, bordering Russia, is the Historic Province of Svaneti. Perhaps the most beautiful region and the essence of what Georgia has to offer. A wonderfully hospitable culture, a special history, the highest mountains in the country and on average the most snowfall. From Kutaisi we drive to the capital of Svaneti, Mestia. From here we can access the Tetnuldi ski area. The four chairlifts go up to 3,160 meters and give access to a varied freeride terrain with wide sloping descents and a number of steep couloirs. Thanks to tour skis and splitboard, we have plenty of opportunities to enjoy ourselves for a few days around the ski area. Every evening we visit one of the cozy restaurants of Mestia.
Highest inhabited village in Europe
After exploring the Mestia area, we drive deeper into the Caucasus. Ushguli is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Georgia, the Shkhara (5201 m.). At 2,100 meters, this is the highest inhabited village in Europe. A medieval village known for its characteristic tower houses. From Ushguli we go on two full days of ski touring and splitboarding.
“ The road to Ushguli is narrow, unpaved and would probably not be out of place on the list of “World’s most dangerous roads”.” Read more…
