Romania – Snow
Ski travel to Romania
Are you looking for an affordable alternative to the Alps? Then consider Romania. In the Balkans you have plenty of opportunities for an unusual winter sports trip. The Transylvanian Alps are a mountain range in Romania and form the southwestern capstone of the arc of the Carpathians. In the western part are the Tarcu Mountains, a huge freeride area of 588 km2. You will find beautiful wild nature and many protected animal species. A unique location for a ski or snowboard adventure.
In Romania you will find the ski resorts Sinaia, Predeal and Poiana Brasov. These are slightly less luxurious than what you find in alpine countries, but the prices are literally dirt cheap. From the lifts you have a large off-piste range, where you can go freeriding, ski touring, splitboarding and heli-skiing. After an intensive day off-piste, you can relax in the comfortable hotels. After an extensive introduction to Romanian cuisine, finish with a glass of Tuica or Palinka, Romanian ‘schnapps’ from a local distillery. Became curious?
